2019 Award winners

In 2019 there were 28 applications and 13 applicants were successful in receiving funding. The interview panel from the Trustees was Mr. Geoffrey Glazer Surgeon, Dr Michael Harding GP and Susan Smith Healthcare Executive. A total of £84,500 was awarded.

Panagiotis Asimakopoulos

Panagiotis is a Consultant in Otolaryngology at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. He will be undertaking the Fellowship Programme at Memorial Sloan Kettering, New York, USA for 12 months from July 2019.

Mukhtar Bizrah

Mukhtar is a ST7 at the Western Eye Hospital London and will be undertaking a Cornea and External Eye disease Fellowship at the university of British Columbia from July 2019 for 12 months.

Ian Cummings

Ian is a ST8 at Harefield Hospital and has a Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Rennes for 12 months from February 2019

Jason Fleming

Jason is a ST8 at Guys hospital London and is starting an Advanced Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery and Robotic Fellowship at the University of Alabama Comprehensive Cancer center, Birmingham, Alabama, USA starting in July 2019 for 12 months.

Ee-Ling Heng

Ee-Ling is an ST8  in the London Deanery and has a 12 month Fellowship in Adult Congenital Heart Disease Structural Heart Intervention at the Toronto Congenital Cardia Centre for Adults, Peter Munk Cardiac Centre, Toronto General Hospital, Canada starting in July 2019 for 12 months.

Mazin Ibrahim

Mazin is an ST8 at the Chelsea and Westminster hospital and has a Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Fellowship for 12 months at the Joint Replacement Institute, London Health Sciences Centre, University Hospital, London, Ontario, Canada starting in August 2019 for 12 months.

Muhammad Javed

Muhammad is an ST7 in plastic surgery at the Welsh Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery, Morriston Hospital, Wales and has a Microsurgery Fellowship at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, South Australia starting in July 2019 for 12 months.

Kavan Johal

Kavan is an ST7 at University College hospital, London and is visiting the Asian Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea for 6 months to study advanced techniques in microsurgery for extremity reconstruction and the treatment of lymphoedema and bringing to his UK practice the South Korean model.

Lakhbinder Pabla

Lakhbinder is an ST8 at the Great Northern Children’s Hospital, Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle Upon Tyne. She has a Fellowship in Paediatric Otolaryngology at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne Australia for 12 months starting in July 2019.

Syed Rehman

Syed is a senior registrar at Southampton General Hospital. He started his 12 month Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery at OLV Zeikenhuis in February 2019.
Anna Reid

Elisaveta Sokolov

Elisaveta is a ST5 in Clinical Neurophysiology at Kings College hospital, London and is visiting Harvard, Boston Massachusetts General Hospital, USA for 6 months to study the use of magnetoencephalography and stereo-EEG in the work up of focal refractory epilepsy.

Jagdeep Virk

Jagdeep is post-CCT Head and Neck at Imperial College healthcare. He has a Surgical Fellowship Head and Neck at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne for 12 months starting in July 2019.
