2016 award winners

In 2016 the Foundation received 36 applications. 15 candidates attended for interview.. The interview panel from the Trustees was Mr Geoffrey Glazer Surgeon, Dr Michael Harding General Practitioner and Susan Smith, Healthcare Executive. A total of £72,000 has been allocated in grants to 15 candidates.

Andrew Alalade

Andrew Alalade is a post CCT Neurosurgery Fellow currently at Queens Square Hospital London. He will be visiting the Weill Cornell Medical College USA to undertake further training in minimally invasive endoscopic surgery of the brain and skull base

Moataz El-Husseiny

Moataz El-Husseiny is a SpR at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore London. He has a Fellowship in Revision Arthroplasty at the University of British Columbia Vancouver Canada.

Mansur Halai

Mansur Halai is a ST8 at Glasgow Royal Infirmary Scotland. He has a Foot and Ankle Fellowship at the University of Toronto Canada.

Christopher Hill

Christopher Hill is a ST8 at the University hospital Coventry and Warwick. He is travelling to the Hospital for Sick Children Toronto Canada where he has gained an International Fellowship in Paediatric Trauma and Orthopaedics

Manish Kalla

Manish Kalla is a post CCT SpR in the Oxford Deanery. He will be going to the Royal Melbourne Hospital Melbourne Australia to undertake further work in advanced catheter ablation and autonomic cardiac neurobiology

Anthony Li

Anthony Li is a ST7 at St George’s Hospital London. He will visit the San Raffaele Hospital, Milan Italy to train in advanced techniques for the catheter ablation of ventricular tachycardia

Bao Nguyen

Bao Nguyen is a ST7 on the Southwest higher surgical training progarmme in cardiac surgery. He is visiting the Schulich Heart Centre Sunnybrook Hospital Toronto Canada to undertake further work in the surgical transcather treatment of aortic and mitral valve disease

Paul Nankivell

Paul Nankivell is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University Hospital of Birmingham. He is going to Monash Health Melbourne Australia to undertake further training in the development of advanced head and neck oncology care.

Alexander Nicholls

Alexander Nicholls is a ST8 in the Wessex Deanery. He is travelling via Singapore and Cambodia to St Luke’s Hospital and the Sydney Hospital Hand Unit Australia. He has an International Clinical and Research Fellowship in hand surgery

Olufemi Oshin

Olufemi Oshin is a ST8 at the royal Liverpool Hospital where he has just gained a Consultant appointment. He is going to the royal Perth Hospital Australia to look at Novel approaches to the revascularisation of infragenicular peripheral vascular disease and an integrated approach to the management of diabetic foot disease

Andrew Robson

Andrew Robson is a ST7 in South East Scotland. He has a surgical Fellowship in HPB and liver transplant at the Princess Alexandra hospital Brisbane Australia

Jennifer Robson

Jennifer Robson is a ST7 at the University of Edinburgh Scotland. She has a Fellowship in complex endovascular surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital Brisbane Australia

Neil Tan

Neil Tan is a ST7 ENT Registrar in the East of England Deanery. He is travelling to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Royal Adelaide Hospital Australia where he has a Fellowship in advanced rhinology and anterior skull base surgery for the treatment of benign and malignant skull base neoplasms

John Weston-Simons

John Weston-Simons (Sam) is a ST7 on the South East Thames rotation. He is visiting the hospital for Sick Kids Toronto Canada to specifically look at the radiographic outcomes of children with joint sepsis

Thomas White

Thomas White is a ST8 in trauma and orthopaedic surgery in the South East Training Programme. He has an allograft Fellowship at the Pluslife Bone and Tissue Bank Perth Western Australia.
